October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Today's Tip Tuesday is to teach children to recognize the signs of bullying: someone is being hurt by words or actions on purpose, usually more than once, feels bad because of it, & has a hard time stopping what is happening to them.
October is Farm to School Month to celebrate food education and lunch trays filled with healthy, local ingredients. This year Chartwells chefs created some fresh recipes for students and families to try at home.

One of the most creative AVID projects is the noodle project. Students are grouped together with 40 spaghetti noodles and one marshmallow. They must design and then build a tower with just those items. The students competed to see who could make the tallest tower.

One of the students' favorite activities is to play kickball. This is a restorative circle activity where staff and students play together. We enjoy the cooler weather to get out on the field. So much fun!
In recent group activities, students worked on communication and team building. One project was an escape room activity over the French and Indian war. The other involved a taped off area on the floor where students had to guide their classmates through the obstacles in that space while blindfolded.
